The City of Derry International Choir Festival

The City of Derry International Choir Festival that will run from 25th – 29th October is now in its fifth year.  Created as a joyous celebration of choral music-making, the festival provides opportunities for competitive and non-competitive participation for singers across a wide range of styles, ensembles and ages.  On Sunday 29th October Eller Girls’ Choir from Estonia will be attending Choral Matins, singing an Anthem and giving a short recital after the service.


Our Boy Choristers will be one of a number of choirs/acts to feature in a concert in the Millennium Forum. All proceeds from the night will go towards Sarcoma Cancer Awareness.Charity: Paul's Campaign

A  Service to Commemorate the Quincentenary of the Reformation

On Tuesday 7th November 2017 at 8.00 p.m.,

the 500th anniversary of the Reformation will be acknowledged at a service in

Saint Columb’s Cathedral, Londonderry –

the first post-Reformation cathedral to be built in Europe.

The preacher will be the bishop of Kilmore, Elphin and Ardagh,

The Right Reverend Dr Ferran Glenfield.  All will be welcome.

Remembrance Sunday

The customary Act of Remembrance will be held at The War Memorial in The Diamond

on Sunday 12th November at 10.45 a.m.

We will then look forward to the service in the Cathedral

at the slightly later time of 11.30 a.m.

We remember with thanksgiving all who have given their lives

for our freedom in the two world wars and in more recent conflicts.

Waterford High Hopes Choir

Candlelight Advent Procession

The ever-popular candle-lit service to mark the beginning of the season of Advent will be held in the Cathedral on Sunday 3rd December at 7.30 p.m. This well established and much loved service of readings, hymns and anthems on the theme of ‘Darkness into Light’ is extremely moving and inspirational. The service begins with the Choir singing in the Gallery with the Cathedral in darkness and then gradually making its way to the chancel. By the end of the service the Cathedral is fully lit.

The Shutting of the Gates

The Annual Service of Thanksgiving for the Shutting of the Gates will be held in the Cathedral on Saturday 2nd December at 2.00 p.m.

Carol Services

The Christmas Carol Celebration presented by the children/young people of the Sunday School will be held in the Cathedral on Sunday 10th December at 11.00 a.m.

The Festival Service of Nine Lessons and Carols, which is the traditional celebration of the Nativity of our Lord in words and music, will be held in the Cathedral on
